About Miguel

Miguel Echeverria is a BACP-registered psychotherapeutic counsellor who brings an integrative, depth-oriented approach to his work. Born in the Basque Country of Spain, his childhood involved several moves, including a period living in the United States, before he relocated to the United Kingdom in 2001. More recently he has been dividing his time between Spain and the UK, a personal journey that has given him a keen understanding of belonging, identity and the complexities of family life.

During his twenties and thirties he faced his own struggles with depression and addictions, and these experiences led him to explore a wide range of healing practices from meditation retreats and plant medicine to vision quests and other modalities. Those experiences contributed to his personal recovery, but it was the experience of therapy that unlocked deeper understanding and motivated him to train as a counsellor so he could support others on similar paths.

He trained at the Re-vision centre and holds a Diploma in Integrative Transpersonal Counselling, combining transpersonal and integrative methods with a foundation in psychodynamic and Jungian ideas. In practice he draws on imagination, myth and story alongside careful exploration of childhood and relational patterns, inviting clients to investigate how past experiences shape present life while also attending to what wants to emerge and grow.

Alongside his private practice he works for the mental health charity MIND in the UK. Miguel offers an attuned, empathic presence that listens not only to spoken words but also to what is unspoken. He is registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and maintains professional supervision and insurance for his work.

Depth-Oriented Approaches Delivered Online

Miguel draws on Attachment-Based Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Jungian ideas to explore patterns, meaning and relationships. Attachment-Based Therapy looks at how early bonds with caregivers influence present-day relationships and emotional responses, helping with issues like attachment difficulties, relationship strain and feelings of abandonment. Psychodynamic Therapy focuses on how past experiences, especially childhood dynamics, shape current thoughts and behaviours, supporting exploration of long-standing patterns such as avoidance, control issues and unresolved family problems. Jungian Therapy attends to symbols, archetypes and imagination as ways to access deeper layers of the psyche and to work with themes like identity, emptiness and life purpose.

Choosing the right approach is part of the therapeutic process, and Miguel treats this as a collaborative exploration. He will work with each person to identify which methods fit their needs, goals and preferences, adapting the work as understanding and trust grow.

Online therapy with Miguel is offered by video calls, phone sessions, live chat and text-based messaging, providing flexibility for different schedules and comfort levels. These options make it easier for people living abroad or with busy lives to access consistent, ongoing support from a registered professional without needing to travel.
